It is excessively pessimistic, in my opinion.

Personally I always listen to advices… especially if this advice is about how to earn money!

And as to the tavern - root of all evil is not in it, is in a person. It is possible to come into a tavern to have supper, washing down with a glass of wine… and it is possible to get drunk instead of a supper. A person always has a choice!
